Interpretation
-
- No interpretation offered in original context sheet, but the most likely explanation is that this layer represents the plaster facing of the collapsed walls in this area, between the floor and the stone collapse of the walls themselves. It is unlikely that this layer was cut by the pit 324/428, which seems to predate the floor of room 34. It is possible that it represents a period of abandonment between the partial destruction of the complex and the collapse of the walls, but the relationship between the burnt door materials and the wall collapse militates against a long gap between these events.
